CAHFS
The California Animal Health and Food Safety (CAHFS) Laboratory System is the backbone of California's warning system that helps to protect the health of California's livestock and poultry. CAHFS serves the people of California by safeguarding the public health with rapid and reliable diagnoses for animal diseases affecting humans. CAHFS operates in partnership with the CDFA, UC Davis, California, veterinarians, and livestock and poultry producers.

Salmonella testing in pets
As part of the national investigation and pet food recall related to the Salmonella Infantis, CAHFS laboratory at all 4 locations can perform testing on feces or vomitus from affected or at risk pets at our standard rates. Pet food testing can also be performed at our Davis site. Information from CDC on the recall and testing is available for veterinarians at http://www.cdc.gov/salmonella/dog-food-05-12/vet-info.html.
Lab Tests & Fees
Effective May 1, 2013, CAHFS will be the official testing lab for CEM in California, assuming responsibility for testing from the UCD VMTH. Click here for a submission form.
